The C & N Team

Carlton "JC" Roy  (The Author)

Carlton “JC” Roy is a Texas-born author of historical fiction whose life experience spans education, business leadership, and entrepreneurship. A graduate of Odessa High School, Roy went on to earn both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma.

He began his professional career in Texas as a history teacher and coach, where he spent a decade shaping young minds and fostering a love for the past - an influence that would later influence his writing. Roy then transitioned into the manufacturing sector, building a successful career over several decades. He worked in sales for a valve manufacturing company before rising to Vice President and Operations Manager and later served in both sales and executive leadership roles for a major oilfield products company.

Roy ultimately founded and led CanCo Sales as Owner and President, overseeing operations across South Texas and the Rocky Mountain region for ten years. His extensive experience in business and leadership, combined with his passion for history, laid the foundation for his third career as a writer.

Now retired from corporate life, Roy is a dedicated author of historical fiction. He has published four novels available on Amazon and Kindle, with audio editions also accessible on Spotify. His stories reflect his lifelong interest in history, bringing the past to life through compelling narrative and richly developed characters. Roy resides in Granbury, Texas, where he enjoys an active and creative life. When he’s not writing, he plays golf whenever he can, sings in his church choir, and spends time playing guitar.

Nita Roy (The CEO)

Nita Roy brings a lifetime of dedication to education, service, and creativity to her work as an author and editor. After earning her bachelor's degree from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, where she majored in science, she began a 25-year career in education in Odessa, Texas. During that time, she taught junior high science and science at Odessa ISD Career Center, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students.

Following her years in education, she spent seven years as a flight attendant with a major airline, living and working in both Houston, Texas, and Loveland, Colorado. Her experiences traveling and connecting with people from all walks of life broadened her perspective and deepened her appreciation for storytelling.

She later served as CEO of CanCo Sales, helping lead operations across the Rocky Mountain region and South Texas. After retiring from business, she now dedicates her time to traveling alongside her husband, Carlton Roy, conducting research for their historical fiction novels. She also plays an important role as one of the editors of the Patriot Freedom series.

Today, she enjoys an active and fulfilling life, singing in her church choir, playing handbells, and spending time with her children and grandchildren in Houston and Lubbock.

Behind the Scenes

Carlton and Nita Roy have turned their passion for history, authorship, and crafting meaningful stories into a family endeavor. It's quite a unique collaboration amongst various members of their family including Carlton's sister, Rita, who handles editing.  Other family members assist with development of the audiobooks, marketing, social media, and other aspects.

Rita Roy (The Editor-in-Sister)

Rita grew up in West Texas, where she graduated from Odessa High School and attended Odessa College. She began her career in a role that is rare today, working as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She later held several positions with a steel company in both Odessa and Houston, gaining valuable experience across different aspects of the business.

After returning to Odessa, Rita worked for a major hotel chain for a few years before stepping away from her career to focus on family. During what she fondly describes as a fifteen-year sabbatical, she embraced one of the most meaningful roles of her life as a devoted grandmother, affectionately known as “Gammers.”

When her husband Jim’s career, along with the presence of their grandchildren, brought them to Central Texas, Rita continued to care for her grandsons as they grew older. Once her grandsons were a bit older, she began what she considers her favorite professional role as a receptionist for a credit union. She remained there until her retirement, enjoying the opportunity to connect with and serve others each day.

A few years after retiring, Rita’s brother Carlton surprised her with his first book, The Mandolin Man. She quickly developed a deep interest in his work, and their shared enthusiasm led to a meaningful creative partnership. Rita proudly took on the role of “Editor in Sis,” contributing to what has become a treasured family endeavor. This unexpected chapter has brought Rita great joy and fulfillment, proving that some of life’s most rewarding experiences can arrive later than expected.
